About
You hire me. You get me.
No handoffs, no account manager, no telephone game. The person who answers your email is the person who writes the code.
I'm Joe Jagtap, a designer and developer in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Droom is my studio. I design your site, build it, write the copy, prepare the photos you supply, and keep it running afterwards. No office, no account management layer, no minimum beyond the first three months. That structure is why the work costs a fraction of an agency quote at the same standard.
1person
The whole org chart. The person who answers the email designs the site, writes the copy, builds it and maintains it. Nothing is subcontracted.
What you skip by skipping the agency
An agency quote is mostly other people. A project manager to relay your messages, an account manager to keep you happy, a designer, a developer, and an office to put them in. You pay for the whole chain to get the work that comes out the end of it.
Taking that structure out changes two things. It costs less, obviously. But the bigger difference is that nothing gets lost in translation, because there is no translation. You describe a change to the person who will make it.
The honest trade-off is capacity. There is a limit to how many clients I can carry while still turning edits around in 48 hours, so when the book is full it is full. If you need a team of five on standby, that is a real reason to hire an agency and I will say so.
What I actually do, and what I do not
I handle the design and build, the writing, the preparation of the photos you supply, the mobile work, the Google Business Profile setup, the hosting, the backups, the security patches, and the ongoing edits. Local search and review management is there when you want it.
What I do not do: enterprise web applications, custom software, anything needing a team, and anything requiring somebody physically in your office on a schedule. If that is what you need, a development shop is the right call.
How I check the work before it goes live
Every site is tested at real viewport widths from 360 pixels upward, not just resized in a browser window. Scroll performance is measured frame by frame rather than eyeballed. Copy is checked for the things that quietly break trust, like placeholder text left behind or claims that cannot be supported.
Page speed is measured under throttled mobile conditions rather than on a fast desktop, because a site that scores well on my machine and stutters on a five-year-old Android has failed the only test that counts.
Where I work
Vancouver, British Columbia. Most clients are in Vancouver proper, Burnaby, North Vancouver and Richmond, and being in the same city genuinely helps for knowing which neighbourhood names people actually type into Google.
The build itself is remote and works the same in every province. Clients outside BC get the same price, the same 48-hour edits and the same handover.
Questions people ask before they hire
Who is actually doing the work?
Joe Jagtap, a designer and developer based in Vancouver. I do the design, the build, the writing and the ongoing maintenance personally. There is no team behind the work and nothing is subcontracted.
How many clients do you take at once?
A small number, deliberately. Ongoing clients get 48-hour edit turnaround, and that promise only holds while the book stays small. When it is full, new builds wait.
What happens if you are unavailable?
Your site sits on standard hosting with daily backups and your domain is registered in your name, so nothing is locked to me. Any developer can pick it up, and handover files are provided free if you ever want to leave.
Is Droom a registered business?
Yes, operating in British Columbia. GST is charged where applicable and proper invoices are issued for every payment.
